Debate I

The main aim of the public debates is to raise awareness among the target group of the project about key issues affecting their lives, as well as those affecting the country and Europe, to engage in dialogue between politicians and community members, to educate and advocate people’s needs, concerns and to try to find solutions.
First public debate will concentrate on education policy and inclusion of vulnerable groups).

Target audience: up to 40 participants (Young people, youth leaders and representatives of NGOs, local community leaders, members of local authorities, representatives of education, culture and business, and other interested parties are invited to participate).

PROGRAMME
09.30 – 10.00 Registration of participants.
10.00 – 10.10 Presentation of the programme “Youth Eyes on Democracy and the European Elections 2024”.
10.10 – 10.30 Introduction “How to develop dialogue between policy makers and community members?”
10.30 – 10.45 First debate “Estonian education policy and the inclusion of vulnerable groups” – Ingrid Raudsepp, University of Tartu.
10.45 – 11.30 Discussion in working groups.
11.45 – 11.45 Coffee break.
11.45 – 12.00 Second discussion “How to ensure the participation of citizens and civil society in policy making, encouraging politicians and voters to develop a more coherent and organised approach to civic participation” – Vassili Golikov, SSCW representative/ political scientist.
12.00 – 12.45 Discussion in working groups
12.45 – 14.00 Development of project ideas (2 ideas)
14.00 – 15.00 Lunch
15.00 – 16.00 Presentation of the results of the discussions and summarising the results

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Working language: Estonian and Russian
Catering and educational materials are provided for participants.
